Invite coastal charm into the great indoors with this Whale art sculpture! Make a statement in your entryway or give a whale of a housewarming gift. Whether you're living the coastal life or dreaming seaside, it's sure to lift your spirits.

This 3d metal art is made entirely from reclaimed metal. Ben hand draws the pattern onto the metal with soapstone and cuts it using a handheld plasma cutter. We then hand hammer and arc weld the Whale into shape.

Each piece will have its own subtle differences; they are cut, hammered, and built by hand.

The color is hand-painted with milk paint, giving the piece a naturally uneven and textured finish.  A clear finish is applied to the entire piece.

There is a small hanger on the back, which you can use to easily hang this piece on a nail or a screw.

Care: Wipe clean with a damp cloth. If outdoors, you can maintain a shiny metal look (optional) by applying a clear metal enamel, available in a spray can at your local hardware store.

using simple tools to make handmade, authentic pieces of art

We are Ben and Kate Gatski, self-taught artists who love using simple tools to make handmade, authentic pieces of art. We live and work on a hilltop in rural Pennsylvania. There, we handcraft sculpture and furniture with reclaimed materials (weathered steel and barn wood) and raise our three children. We established Gatski Metal in 2003.
We see beauty and inspiration in our surrounding landscape, our rural lifestyle, and the reclaimed. And we want to share that with you. Our home and shop sit at the top of a hill, overlooking forest and fields. We often find ourselves creating pieces based on what we see (or can imagine) before us. We believe in bringing you (our customers) pieces that make you happy and that you can enjoy forever. Each Gatski piece is built to last — so it can be a part of your story for a long time to come.
