This vintage 3x6 rug, hand-knotted in wool, originating from Turkey, circa 1960-1970, features Zeki Müren’s mid-century take on Turkish Tribal rug design. On the Design: Admirers of craft may note a mid-century take on Turkish tribal rug designs, keeping with Müren’s shabby-chic meets boho-chic interpretation of traditional styles. The design favors brown underscores, green, pink and red geometric patterns—little variations of color lend a playful touch to otherwise soothing, cozy repetition which is a hallmark of Müren’s love for comfortable yet subversive pieces that always remind us what a student of his craft he was. Keen eyes for detail will further admire the sheer attention to variation and movement created therein—an exemplar of Müren’s most distinguished works. Müren’s artistic capabilities shine through, in his deliberate use of eccentric colorway combinations, resulting in a visually striking composition. Condition: This mid-century Zeki Müren runner further enjoys good condition for its age and origin. Its construction has been lowered to preserve its construction, which lends it the distressed look of wear and chic in a low pile.

A Legacy of Excellence Since the Beginning

Rug & Kilim is a New York–based institution devoted to the art of rugs, kilims, and tapestries. Founded in 1980 by Jahanshah “Josh” Nazmiyal, we began as a humble family workshop and have grown into one of the most respected authorities in the field—without ever losing the intimacy and integrity that define our boutique ethos. For over four decades, we’ve served collectors, designers, and connoisseurs who value craftsmanship, soul, and above all, rarity.

In 1989, Rug & Kilim celebrated a major milestone with the opening of its second store in Morristown, New Jersey. The business quickly established itself as a national source for the finest Oriental rugs, offering a wide-ranging collection from Persia, Tibet, India, Pakistan, Russia, and China. Known for its expertise, curated selection, and exceptional customer service, Rug & Kilim became synonymous with quality, integrity, and a deep understanding of color and design. The firm’s commitment to placing rare and distinguished pieces in homes and collections across the country has remained at the heart of its philosophy for decades.
