Handwoven in wool and originating circa 1950-1960, this 5x7 vintage Persian kilim is a rich new tribal addition to the Rug & Kilim collection.

On the Design:

Connoisseurs and designers alike will admire the rhythmic precision of this vintage flatweave, where a vibrant spectrum of rich hues underscores a sophisticated striped style. The field is defined by a meticulously balanced sequence of vertical bands, featuring deep crimson red and midnight black stripes set against a warm, sandy beige ground. Keen eyes will appreciate the intricate geometric detailing found in the alternating pinstripes; delicate ""stipple"" effects and dashed-line motifs create a sense of architectural structure and continuous movement across the tapestry.

This kilim is a stunning work of rustic charm and personal beauty, offering a clean visual language that feels both ancient and remarkably modern. Its versatile size and high-contrast patterning make it an idyllic choice for an array of projects, from grounding a minimalist mid-century office to adding a layer of nomadic soul to a contemporary bedroom. The interplay of bold, saturated colors and neutral space ensures this kilim remains a grounded yet visually electric architectural anchor.

Condition:

This vintage flatweave further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.

A Legacy of Excellence Since the Beginning

Rug & Kilim is a New York–based institution devoted to the art of rugs, kilims, and tapestries. Founded in 1980 by Jahanshah “Josh” Nazmiyal, we began as a humble family workshop and have grown into one of the most respected authorities in the field—without ever losing the intimacy and integrity that define our boutique ethos. For over four decades, we’ve served collectors, designers, and connoisseurs who value craftsmanship, soul, and above all, rarity.

In 1989, Rug & Kilim celebrated a major milestone with the opening of its second store in Morristown, New Jersey. The business quickly established itself as a national source for the finest Oriental rugs, offering a wide-ranging collection from Persia, Tibet, India, Pakistan, Russia, and China. Known for its expertise, curated selection, and exceptional customer service, Rug & Kilim became synonymous with quality, integrity, and a deep understanding of color and design. The firm’s commitment to placing rare and distinguished pieces in homes and collections across the country has remained at the heart of its philosophy for decades.
