Brünnhilde the Cat began life as a 1936 photograph by Adolph Edward Weidhaas, a plucky tabby kitted out as the Valkyrie heroine from Wagner's Ring Cycle. Catherine Hébert re-imagines the black-and-white original in lush colour, keeping every fierce whisker while letting that winged helmet gleam!
This open-edition art print is ideal for mythology buffs, opera lovers and cat-people with a taste for Viking drama. Build your own feline saga, or gift Brünnhilde to anyone who believes a tabby can conquer Valhalla ⚔️😸
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Catherine Hébert is a wildlife and animal artist based in Montreal, Canada. She has a background in visual effects and brings that same eye for detail and colour to every painting. Many of her pieces are inspired by real animals she's met. A crow on a hotel balcony in DC, a round pigeon in a Seoul subway station, a pheasant who keeps showing up in her sister's yard in Nova Scotia. She also paints live during her weekly Thursday evening livestream, where viewers hang out, chat, and sometimes even name the paintings!
ABOUT THE PRINT:
Giclée printed on Epson Hot Press Bright White Fine Art Paper with dye-based archival inks designed to last. Also available framed in premium oak frames with tempered glass.
We work with giclée printing partners across Canada, the US and the UK for the highest possible quality and faster shipping.
Smaller prints ship flat in stiff cardboard envelopes. Larger prints ship in protective cardboard tubes.
Fine art prints can scratch with handling, so we recommend avoiding touching the printed surface.
