Trames de lecture explores the idea of the library as a constructed mental space rather than a literal interior. Through a structured grid and rhythmic vertical forms, the composition evokes rows of books reduced to their essential presence—color, weight, and alignment.
Muted whites and greys establish a calm architectural framework, while deeper tones of ochre, blue, black, and red punctuate the surface, creating visual cadence and subtle tension. Painted with a palette knife, the material remains visible, reinforcing the physicality of the work and the passage of time embedded in each layer.
Rather than illustrating books, the painting suggests the act of reading itself—repetition, order, interruption, and silence. The balance between regularity and slight variation prevents the structure from becoming rigid, allowing the eye to circulate naturally across the surface.
