"My art should be as malleable as the world we live in. It should not be stagnant. It should possess life, and inspire the looker to give and take life from it."

Jennifer Charboneau is an American contemporary painter based in Reno, Nevada. After completing her BFA in 2008 she then traveled abroad living and working as a nomadic painter and muralist for over 5 years. Her work is held in private collections across Europe, Australia, South Korea, Mexico, and The United States. She has been involved in exhibitions in over a dozen cities across the globe and has curated numerous public art events connecting communities with the arts.
Her practice balances two main avenues; It interacts with public space through murals, spontaneous paintings, installations, and community engagements. And it is also expressed consciously in the studio with paintings, drawings, and philosophical illustrations. Her timeless, fluid gestural style slows the pace of looking and highlights space and movement through the depth of mark making she develops. Chaotic intention is practiced at length in an effort to create works that mimic Nature and its ability to compose harmony in abstract moments. Her interests in nature, philosophy, poetry, architecture, street art, and travel remain visible in most of her artworks. Her current artistic explorations attempt to dissolve time and our over-structured relationships to subject and matter. The Concepts often begin with poetry and prose she writes while traveling to new places and exploring in Nature’s most secluded regions. As these “visual philosophies” take form, in layers of ink, charcoal and minimal colors, she invites the viewer to discover their own context within the works by subconsciously meditating on the intricate layers of time and space she encapsulates.

She is a visual philosopher who is out to absorb all that this life has to show… then spit it out onto canvas and paper as chaotically and yet beautifully as it was first observed.
