The Webs We Weave- 48 x 48 inches
Large-scale original impasto oil painting on canvas by Ethan Newman

The Webs We Weave is a large-scale abstract expressionist oil painting created through an instinctive and physical process of gesture, color, and movement. Built with heavy impasto layers and expressive applications of paint, the work captures the immediacy of raw emotion through bold color, dynamic mark-making, and an unrestrained approach to the canvas.

Rather than beginning with a predetermined image, the painting developed through an intuitive dialogue between artist and material. Thick layers of oil paint accumulate across the surface, revealing the energy of each gesture—the force, rhythm, and emotion embedded within every mark. The resulting composition reflects the tension between spontaneity and intention, chaos and cohesion.

The title The Webs We Weave speaks to the complex structures that emerge from our actions, choices, and experiences. Like interconnected threads, layers of color and texture build upon one another, creating a surface that is both immediate and deeply considered.

With its commanding scale, rich impasto texture, and expressive use of color, this contemporary abstract oil painting is a powerful statement piece for collectors drawn to bold, emotionally charged artwork. The Webs We Weave is an original one-of-a-kind painting available directly from the artist, Ethan Newman.
