Triskelion or Triskele Celtic Spiral Knot Wall Hanging
Handmade pottery design of earthenware clay with beautiful glaze.

The Triskele, or the Triple Spiral Knot is an ancient Celtic symbol, widely believed as one of the oldest symbols on earth.

The Triskelion has three clockwise spirals connecting from the center. Also known as the triple spiral, the Triskelion has rotational symmetry and is very common in Celtic art and architecture, believed to represent the sun or ethereal radiation energy.
The Celtic Triskelion is also seen as a symbol of strength and progress. As it appears to be moving, the Triskelion also represents the will to move forward and overcome adversity.
The Celts believed that life moved in everlasting cycles, transforming at each point. Celts also believed that all important things came in threes or three phases. Some common representations include:
mind, body, spirit
past, present, future
earth, sea, sky
mother, father, child (fertility)
life, death, rebirth (major stages of life)
spiritual, intellectual, emotional (three worlds)
father, son, holy spirit (Christianity)
plant, animal, mineral (three Kingdoms)
Faith, hope, charity (theological virtues)
see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil (three wise monkeys)

Triskelion symbol are believed to represent the three worlds:
The present physical realm
The spirit world of ancestors
The celestial world of the sun, moon, stars and planets

The flowing knot design represents the Celt’s all-important number three along with endless lines with no visible point of start or finish
