The Shapeshifter is a semi-abstract bluebell wood painting with a tiny roe deer appearing in a distant sunlit clearing. It is 36x36x1.5 inches. This painting was inspired by an April bluebell wood walk in Sussex. It was a late afternoon and the sun was casting dappled light through the trees and into the abundance of bluebells and greenery under them. I saw a small roe deer in a clearing to my right delicately stepping through the long grass of a small bright green meadow. Unusually, she did not spot me so I stayed still and watched her. It is called the shapeshifter as I could almost believe she was a fairy in disguise… Painted on deep edge canvas, blue-green edges, ready to hang and comes with certificate of authenticity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mvpIaUunm8

Large semi-abstract landscape, seascape and wildlife original oil paintings (and prints - ask for a quote separately)

I am a UK-based artist creating large original expressive landscape paintings and fine art prints. They are inspired by birds, wildlife, nature, light and movement. My paintings combine semi-abstract techniques with a strong connection to real places, capturing the atmosphere of the British countryside and beyond. Each painting is designed to bring colour, energy and a sense of space into a home and is completely unique in style.
I often paint from memory as it better allows me to move beyond traditional realism and into magical realism using colour, texture and light to express the magic that is present in wild meadows, forests, seas and rivers. My technique is rooted in traditional oil painting and I build each piece with layers of glaze, texture, and intuitive, art nouveau like, brush stokes, letting the painting evolve organically just as nature herself does. Animals, pathways, and portals are recurring motifs in my painting’s, often as symbols of the mysteries that lie just beyond the visible. I am fascinated by the folklore and hidden stories woven into the countryside. I hope to inspire a deeper appreciation for the natural world and its wildlife and to encourage its protection as well as to provide a place for viewers to escape beyond the mundane and be more curious about the spiritual.
