The Roebucks Realm is a large woodland themed oil painting of a roebuck deer appearing in an autumn forest. It is 36x36x1.5 inches. The buck is willowy and slightly transparent as he seems to be emerging from a portal deeper in the woods. The woodland is semi-abstract and shimmers in overlapping layers of vibrant golds, and the full range of autumn colours. The deer buck stands on a path that leads toward an exit. This painting was inspired by an encounter I had with this roebuck where I suddenly spotted him and found he had already spotted me. His elfin face was both sorrowful, slightly questioning. It is easy to believe such creatures are not quite of this world. Having watched each other for a minute or two he finally turned and flashed his white rear at me before vanishing entirely. Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, ready to hang and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Large semi-abstract landscape, seascape and wildlife original oil paintings (and prints - ask for a quote separately)

I am a UK-based artist creating large original expressive landscape paintings and fine art prints. They are inspired by birds, wildlife, nature, light and movement. My paintings combine semi-abstract techniques with a strong connection to real places, capturing the atmosphere of the British countryside and beyond. Each painting is designed to bring colour, energy and a sense of space into a home and is completely unique in style.
I often paint from memory as it better allows me to move beyond traditional realism and into magical realism using colour, texture and light to express the magic that is present in wild meadows, forests, seas and rivers. My technique is rooted in traditional oil painting and I build each piece with layers of glaze, texture, and intuitive, art nouveau like, brush stokes, letting the painting evolve organically just as nature herself does. Animals, pathways, and portals are recurring motifs in my painting’s, often as symbols of the mysteries that lie just beyond the visible. I am fascinated by the folklore and hidden stories woven into the countryside. I hope to inspire a deeper appreciation for the natural world and its wildlife and to encourage its protection as well as to provide a place for viewers to escape beyond the mundane and be more curious about the spiritual.
