The Persimmon Silver Collage — Japanese Ceremonial Silk Lumbar Pillow, Geometric in Persimmon and Silver

Price from $254 to $362

A lumbar pillow cover in Japanese ceremonial silk, cut from a Nishijin fukuro obi (袋帯): a geometric collage — kaki-iro persimmon herringbone meeting a cool silver lattice, no figurative motif. Envelope-pocket back, no metal against the silk; 50 × 30 cm. For modern, two-tone rooms. Spot clean only. Unrepeatable, finished at the Renaras atelier, Amsterdam. Kaki-iro meets architecture. Where Kyoto's loom meets pure geometric intelligence — persimmon silk, silver lattice, no figurative motif and none required. A vivid panel of kaki-iro persimmon-orange silk — woven in a sharp herringbone chevron — meets a cool silver diamond lattice and burnished gold accents in a composition of rare graphic authority. There are no florals. No narrative motifs. Only the pure architectural intelligence of a master Nishijin weaver expressing form through structure. The persimmon gives the composition its conviction. The silver gives it its discipline. A pillow for Bauhaus-influenced apartments, dark walnut studies, Scandinavian rooms seeking a deliberate moment of warmth — quiet beauty for ordinary moments, gathered around a shared table. Seamless envelope closure. No metal touches the visible silk. Product type Lumbar pillow cover Silk source Japanese ceremonial obi (pre-loved); origin Japan. Weave / technique Nishijin-ori 西陣織 (fukuro obi 袋帯) Motif Geometric — kaki-iro persimmon herringbone with silver lattice (no figurative motif) Construction Seamless envelope closure; no metal against the visible silk Dimensions 50 × 30 cm; small format also offered live Origin of silk Japan Assembled in Amsterdam, Netherlands Care Spot clean only Unrepeatable Yes SKU REN-PIL-014-L Renaras: Japanese ceremonial silk, reimagined for daily life. Each piece arrives with its own passport from the atelier — a small handmade record of the silk's first life and its transformation, signed and dated in Amsterdam. One silk. One story. One piece. Never repeated.

Renaras is an Amsterdam atelier that transforms vintage Japanese ceremonial silk (kimono, obi, furisode and uchikake) into contemporary objects for the home and wardrobe. Wall tapestries, silk textile paintings, bed runners, cushions, table runners, placemats, napkins, bottle sleeves and knot bags are each cut from a single textile, so every piece is unrepeatable. The practice follows mottainai, the Japanese conviction that nothing of value should be wasted. Silk woven for ceremony is given a second life rather than left folded away. Each piece is finished by skilled seamstresses and accompanied by a record of its provenance.
