The Field Beyond is a semi-abstract yellow and green April meadow landscape with buttercups and pink clover. It is 36x30x1.5 inches. The painting shows a view through grasses and flowers and was built up over several layers of impasto paint. Dark trees line the edge of the field and in the centre of them is an opening into the field beyond which is blurred but inviting. This painting was inspired by April walks in the Burwash area of England (where Rudyard Kipling once lived). It is a magical place which inspired him and inspires me too! The feeling this painting tries to express is the sheer insatiable excitement I have to keep reaching for the field beyond… Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, ready to hang and comes with certificate of authenticity.

Large semi-abstract landscape, seascape and wildlife original oil paintings (and prints - ask for a quote separately)

I am a UK-based artist creating large original expressive landscape paintings and fine art prints. They are inspired by birds, wildlife, nature, light and movement. My paintings combine semi-abstract techniques with a strong connection to real places, capturing the atmosphere of the British countryside and beyond. Each painting is designed to bring colour, energy and a sense of space into a home and is completely unique in style.
I often paint from memory as it better allows me to move beyond traditional realism and into magical realism using colour, texture and light to express the magic that is present in wild meadows, forests, seas and rivers. My technique is rooted in traditional oil painting and I build each piece with layers of glaze, texture, and intuitive, art nouveau like, brush stokes, letting the painting evolve organically just as nature herself does. Animals, pathways, and portals are recurring motifs in my painting’s, often as symbols of the mysteries that lie just beyond the visible. I am fascinated by the folklore and hidden stories woven into the countryside. I hope to inspire a deeper appreciation for the natural world and its wildlife and to encourage its protection as well as to provide a place for viewers to escape beyond the mundane and be more curious about the spiritual.
