This abstract Expressionist work draws inspiration from the opening verses of Genesis 1:1–2, where creation begins in formless darkness and the Spirit of God hovers over the surface of the waters. Layers of paint and texture suggest chaos, echoing the mystery of beginnings. At the center, a gel surface simulates clear water, embodying the primordial deep and the Spirit’s movement across it. The piece invites contemplation and meditation.

Heidy Gonzalez was born in the Dominican Republic and grew up on a farm surrounded by nature and animals an early source of inspiration for her creativity. Now living in sunny Florida, she continues to paint with the same passion she discovered in childhood while balancing life as a mom, entrepreneur, and artist.

Although Heidy holds a bachelor’s degree in business, her true passion has always been art and design. A self-taught painter, she has been creating since she was a child and recently chose to pursue art as a full-time career. Many of her abstract works are inspired by scripture, reflecting her faith and her desire to create pieces that uplift and inspire.

Gonzalez Art and Design is a Florida-based family of artists dedicated to creating original and custom artwork for the interior design industry. We design and craft one-of-a-kind pieces that bring elegance and inspiration to homes, boutique spaces, and commercial projects of every scale.

Our philosophy is to deliver meaningful, high-quality works of art—whether abstract paintings, fine art prints, or mixed-media creations—that reflect both creativity and craftsmanship.
