I painted this tangerine because it was sitting on my table and just looked perfect. The peel was glowing, the leaves were hanging on in this funny, dramatic way, and the cracked wall behind it felt like the right kind of backdrop. It’s the kind of everyday moment I love turning into a still life. This piece is bright without being loud. Just simple fruit, a little rough around the edges, and honest. It pairs really well with my other fruit still lifes (Clementine, Bananas, Avocado) if you want to hang them as a set, but it also holds its own. Perfect for kitchens, dining rooms, or anywhere that could use a pop of color that isn’t overdone.
