Elmwood, Through the Ages. - Street Murals

I was commissioned by Andrei Brel, CEO of Juniper Homecare, to beautify the facade of his building located at 1100 New Britain Ave West Hartford CT. I used the wall’s cinderblock surface to my advantage to achieve the images’ proper scale and proportions. The blocks served as a grid pattern to sketch on the portraits after superimposing them on my iPad. The patterns in the center were constructed by a combination of stencils and free sketching. No projector necessary when the tools you need already exist.

Images from left to right:
• Charles E. Beach. Owner of a dairy farm and dye-making company in the early 1900’s. Vine Hill Farm/ Beach & Company. • Horse from Charter Oak Park’s harness racing track that once existed on New Park Ave circa 1889.
• Abstract pattern collage symbolic of WeHA’s future.
• Javier Colon. A contemporary musician who won NBC’s “The Voice.”
• Lhakpa Sherpa. World record female mountain climber. Has summited Mt. Everest 9 times. Returning in spring 2020.
