198 W × 100 × 2.5 D cm
Materials: printed paper and cardboard
Unframed. Two hinged-panel artwork.
In this new body of work, I explore the elusive and transient beauty of life through a series of abstract floral still lifes. By cutting and assembling fragments of images and words from printed magazines, I create compositions that merge the contemporary with the timeless.
Rooted in the historical tradition of still life, these collages reinterpret the genre for the postmodern era, reflecting on the impermanence of existence and the delicate nature of beauty.
Each piece serves as a visual meditation on mortality, with fragmented imagery symbolising the fragmented nature of life itself. The use of ephemeral materials, such as magazine paper, reinforces the temporary quality of the subject matter. Abstracted floral forms invite contemplation on the passage of time, the inevitability of decay, and the enduring beauty that persists despite life’s impermanence.
Through this work, I create a dialogue between past and present, combining the classical still-life tradition with contemporary collage techniques to explore themes of life, death, and beauty in a constantly changing world.
The artwork consists of two hinged panels and will arrive folded, with all necessary hardware included to easily transform it into a single artwork.
