The Tronco Bench is a mirror-polished stainless steel sculptural bench by Nitush Aroosh, part of the Tronco Collection (2023–2025). Drawing on the memory of a fallen log, its form is translated into Grade 304 stainless steel that continuously warps and bends the reflections of its surroundings.
Shaped through hydroforming — stainless steel expanded under high water pressure into a hollow, lightweight structure — each bench is then hand-hammered to create the undulating surface texture that defines the piece. The result is unique to every individual work.
The mirror-polished finish incorporates the surrounding space into the object itself. Light shifting across the surface throughout the day produces constantly evolving patterns — the natural world made permanent in polished metal.
Hollow in construction and roughly 30% lighter than cast equivalents, each piece performs well in both indoor and outdoor settings, supported by rust-resistant Grade 304 stainless steel throughout.
Nitush Aroosh is a New Delhi-based collectible design studio founded by brothers Nitush and Aroosh Mahipal. Self-taught and process-led, their work transforms stainless steel through hydroforming and hand-hammering — fluid forms stilled in time.
