Oh, the smell is heavenly! It's a waxy wax, as opposed to creamy - that's good - and worked wonders for easing the action on some hand-built drawers.

Really beautiful box, love the sapwood, ours came with a beautiful vein of light wood around the bottom (though I know all of them vary). have been using it for a few days now, and have not had any problems with fruit flies. Love that the stainless steel is easy to keep clean and doesn't absorb odors. Seller was really great to work with and answered my questions quickly. Shipped/arrived in two days.
