This is the silhouette of the giant cow parsnip (heracleum maximum) wildflowers that grow 6 feet tall in shady Northern Californian forests in spring and start to disappear with the heat of summer.
The lighter lettuce green of the background painted over the darker cactus green of the flowers glows on the smooth birchwood panel .
The 1 1/2 inch deep wood sides are painted the same green as the sky and act as a built-in frame. A wire attached to the back makes it ready for hanging.
