Why is there a hole in the middle? You’d be surprised how often I’m asked. The answer? I just think it looks good. The Spoke Low Table features three stout, lathe turned legs joined to a nearly 2” thick solid wood top. Wedged thru-tenon joinery, staggered stretchers, and a fluted edge detail add a traditional touch to an otherwise contemporary coffee table.

Design + Craft

Brendan Barrett is a designer and craftsperson focused on releasing small collections of handmade wood furniture and decorative objects. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, he learned traditional fine woodworking in New Mexico, and studied furniture design in Minnesota. Currently calling Minneapolis home, he opened his studio doors there in 2019. He believes the craft process embeds both a human and material narrative within things, making them not only useful to us but meaningful to us as well.

Brendan has a BFA in Furniture Design from Minneapolis College of Art and Design and an AA in Professional Crafts from Santa Fe Community College. He was recognized as a 2019 Windgate-Lamar Fellow with the Center for Craft, and has received support from CERF+, Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, and the Minnesota State Arts Board.
