A single slab of Sequoia Redwood was cut and formed into a thick and symmetrical coffee table mated together with hand cut half-lap joinery. Small geometric inlays of other redwood grains fill voids where knots and defects existed in the slab. The soft nature of redwood is counteracted on the surface of the table using a special penetrating epoxy, and finished with a satin ceramic coating finish for ultimate durability.

Simon Silver Designs is a Fine Furniture Studio based in Santa Cruz California whose vision is to breathe new life into fallen trees, and use the beautiful medium that is wood to create masterful pieces. Our life goal is to respect and practice the art of salvaging trees and transforming them into fine hardwood tables, and furniture in the most organic way possible. Each slab of wood that becomes a table can be traced back to an exact location, and reason for being felled, be it by natural causes, due to tree sickness, or danger to a nearby home.
