Sculptures by Dina Angel-Wing seen at Fillmore Heritage Center, San Francisco - James Jefferson Community Leader

James Jefferson Community Leader

Commissioned to make a lifelike portrait of James Jefferson in bronze, Dina Angel-Wing had only a few weeks to create her interpretation of the influential civic leader for a memorial held in the rotunda of SF City Hall. She presented a clay bust at the ceremony which was later cast into the final bronze. It was based on a collection of personal photographs and interviews. Upon the final unveiling, the work conveyed both his personality and likeness for visitors.

Meet the Creator

""Dina Angel-Wing has focused on creating three-dimensional art that appeals to different senses. Her sculpture aims at a visual experience that is both aesthetic and intellectually engaging, it can be representative, symbolic, or humorous while juxtaposing soft curvilinear figures with architectonic stands that contrasts rough weathered steel with smooth bronze.

Her portraits interpret a sense of the person while capturing a lively personality from life sketching or researching old photographs and interviews, with the final cast in bronze."
