"ENLIGHTENMENTS 05 by ANDREA MORUCCHIO, 2000, Museo del Vetro, Murano, permanent collection, forged iron structure, 7 blown and ground crystal elements, 220x40x40 cm. The "Enlightenments" series enacts a dynamic tension between opposites: the physical and symbolic antithesis of materials, here, iron and glass. Glass points break through iron barriers, crossing potentially infinite trajectories. Thus, they present themselves almost as obstacles to rationality - a paradox, a koan, foreseer of possible and further “openings” and enlightenment.

Meet the Creator
Wescover creator since 2019
(Venice 1967) Since the end of the '90s, he has expanded his own linguistic research – often based on considerations of a socio-political nature – in various directions, from sculpture to installation, from video to photography, digital art and performance. His works are preserved in the Museo del Vetro / Glass Museum, Murano, Musei Civici, Venezia, in the Museum of Old and New Art, Hobart, Australia and in the Provenance Collections, Tacoma, USA. Morucchio's most recent interventions, like the multimedia installation The Rape of Venice held at Palazzo Mocenigo in 2015, for Biennale di Venezia event MUVE Contemporaneo, deepen sensori-emotional values, even those that sometimes we call judgments of sentiment and taste, and are evidence of the artist's attentive critical reflection on art, culture and the deviancies of our contemporary society.
