A pair of c.1880 Chinese carved openwork floral panels, each mounted on its own solid wood backplate with a 2 cm floating gap — a striking focal point for above a fireplace, a console, or a quiet corner. This piece, combined with the rich patina that comes with age, creates a tranquil and serene atmosphere for private spaces.

These are surviving fragments from a traditional timber-framed structure, dating to circa 1880. Each panel features intricate floral openwork carved in the round — equally beautiful from both sides, a testament to the carver’s exceptional skill. The openwork design allows light to filter through the pierced surfaces, casting delicate, shifting shadow patterns that move with the day’s changing light. This interplay of light and shadow is not incidental — it is the soul of the piece. The surface has developed a deep, stable patina over more than a century, impossible to replicate today.

Condition: The antique panels show natural wear consistent with age, including minor losses to the openwork carving — a quiet record of their history, not a flaw to be corrected.

Each panel measures 63 cm W × 19.5 cm H (antique panel); backplate 75 cm W × 30 cm H. Mounted with a 2 cm floating gap, the pair is ready to hang with pre-installed hardware. Displayed together as a single composition or separately as complementary pieces.

This listing is for a pair of two independent wall sculptures, each with its own backplate. One-of-a-kind pair. Individual panels available — please inquire for pricing.

Transformingtime-worn objects into collectible contemplative art.

Yingting Su transforms reclaimed Chinese relics-1920s porcelain bowls, century-old ox yokes, and lightning-struck wood-into one-of-a-kind sculptural lighting. Rather than erasing their age, she preserves their scars, patina, and history, giving each piece a second life as functional art for collectors and designers. Her work explores the quiet dialogue between time, labor, and light. She is based in Ningbo, China.
