About this rug: The HIGHLY sought after the all-over geometric design of the notorious medallion pattern from this mountainous area of the Northwest of the greatest rug weaving country in the world. This rug reminds me of spanning the terrain of Africa. The completely vast ocean of various terrains that surrounds you with its beauty is mesmerizing - as far as your eyes can see it is the epitome of earth. This idea that the more you roam the more this world has to offer your eyes and soul a feast if you're willing to explore it - this is the exact same sediment regarding this piece. Known for their geometric vine and floral motifs that USUALLY surround the bold center medallion - this rug breaks all the rules as most of the best pieces do. There is no medallion, there are no 4 corner spandrels, and there is no place for the beauty to hide - you are sucked into the rug like quick-sand. The rusty and earthy clay color provides the perfect backdrop for the luscious teals, greens, rose, blush, indigos, and a handful of other shades to pop so beautifully but not in a loud or obnoxious way - in a beautiful transitional way where all of it comes together like the sunset on the Savana. You can't but get lost in the botanical nature of the rug, yet with nicely structured vines like trees in a forest - random but somehow giving some resemblance of order. I almost named the rug after the clay, earthy, and beautiful canyons of the Americas, but given the greens, blues, and other variety of color I thought it needed to encompass this idea of a full life with plants and trees along with animals and everything in between. Speaking of animals, let's touch on the elephant in the room - THE BORDER. Sheeeesh, you've never seen a border like this. So confident of itself to show you the dark and powerful indigo/blue-black border that so unapologetically shifts to it's cooler and gentler ashy grey and steel-like smokey hues in what is the most beautiful abrash we've seen in a long time. The crazy two-toned shift in the border is not only the birthmark of the rug, but it's a highlight reel all on its own. This unusual border acts as the river that lets the iconic Bakshayesh flowers and leaves float on top. Ever so pretty is this combination of ancient and iconic with unique and decorative. Wonderfully old, it's in amazing condition with some touch-ups here and there and some nice age-related patina and threadbare spots. My grandfather has secured both of the fringes by hand and the bindings are great. Nice floppy handle giving you that nice soft wool underfoot, and an even nicer plushness when you order a pad with it (which we always recommend). All in all, you're going to LOVE this rug, there's just no doubt about it. If you are looking for something unusual, authentic, perfectly old, super unique colors, earthy and rustic yet geometric and botanical with structure and order - yet beautiful and natural chaos - THIS IS YOUR RUG!

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available. Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
