"When the Clay Turns Cold" series. Distance is not always measured in space. Sometimes it is made up of countless, almost imperceptible inner steps — recurring days, severed connections, and decisions, each of which carries us only slightly farther from the person we once were.
Sand does not preserve a path for long. A footprint appears, remains for a moment, and then disappears as though no movement had ever taken place. Yet the disappearance of the trace does not erase the distance travelled. The journey remains not upon the surface, but within the traveller, gradually changing their perception, memory, and direction.
Sandy Miles is a work about slow transformation that remains unnoticed for a long time. Here, movement becomes almost indistinguishable from stillness, while repetition itself becomes a means of change. The painting reminds us that even a journey that leaves no visible evidence can lead us somewhere from which we can no longer return unchanged.
