Handwoven in premium natural wool, this 3x5 flatweave is a sophisticated selection from our contemporary Scandinavian rug collection—its design inspired by mid-century Swedish minimalist textile designs of the Rollakhan and Rya weaving traditions. This piece connotes Swedish sensibilities with a rhythmic, geometric ""chevron-leaf"" pattern sitting comfortably in gorgeous symmetry, flourishing in a serene palette of soft grey, sage green, and muted gold.

On the Design:

This piece offers a serene, minimalist perspective on the Swedish Deco aesthetic, utilizing a vertical field of interlocking, feathered geometric motifs to create a sense of quiet architectural order. Rather than a bold pattern, the design relies on a structured, mirrored layout that draws from traditional Scandinavian tapestry logic, lending a modern sense of movement to a classic folk aesthetic.

Connoisseurs will appreciate the use of natural wool, which provides a rustic yet refined striae—a painterly variation in color that lends the flat surface a luminous, three-dimensional depth. This organic movement within the fibers creates an impressionistic quality that keeps the geometric repetition feeling soft and livable. Constructed with our reputed heavier body, this flatweave ensures a sophisticated presence with the durability and buckle resistance required for high-end, high-traffic interiors

A Legacy of Excellence Since the Beginning

Rug & Kilim is a New York–based institution devoted to the art of rugs, kilims, and tapestries. Founded in 1980 by Jahanshah “Josh” Nazmiyal, we began as a humble family workshop and have grown into one of the most respected authorities in the field—without ever losing the intimacy and integrity that define our boutique ethos. For over four decades, we’ve served collectors, designers, and connoisseurs who value craftsmanship, soul, and above all, rarity.

In 1989, Rug & Kilim celebrated a major milestone with the opening of its second store in Morristown, New Jersey. The business quickly established itself as a national source for the finest Oriental rugs, offering a wide-ranging collection from Persia, Tibet, India, Pakistan, Russia, and China. Known for its expertise, curated selection, and exceptional customer service, Rug & Kilim became synonymous with quality, integrity, and a deep understanding of color and design. The firm’s commitment to placing rare and distinguished pieces in homes and collections across the country has remained at the heart of its philosophy for decades.
