That year I was reading everything — Rumi, Gandhi, the Bhagavad Gita, texts on Buddhism. I was still grieving. My dog Zekee had passed away in 2021. Deer shed their antlers every year and grow an entirely new set — almost overnight. They leave behind what no longer serves them to make room for something new. One quote kept coming back to me. Gandhi: Each night when I go to sleep, I die. And the next morning when I wake up, I am reborn. That's what this piece is. It hangs in my living room. It's available — but I'm not sure I'm ready to let it go.
