Madame Pele, the Hawaiian volcano goddess came to me in a meditative vision. I was asked to think of what her tears would be made of - fire, of course. I drew what I envisioned on a discarded slab of wood hidden in a pile behind the studio. I made several after that day. On a day I was displaying them at a sales event at the Queen Emma Summer Palace, a Hula teacher approached my booth and loudly exclaimed "Pele's Tears, how wonderful!" I was shocked - how did she know that I titled them "Pele's Tears"? I was confused, she was confused, until she pulled out her phone and showed me a photo of the glass formations produced during volcanic eruptions that are called Pele's Tears. They looked so like what I had made that we both felt the mirror was inspired by Pele Herself.

Pele's Tears Set is a grouping of individually hanging wall mounted mirrored sculptures. Each one is cut from solid slabs of local tropical hardwoods like Koa, Kamani, Narra, Milo, Mango. The shapes are cut each by hand with jigsaw, each piece is sanded, then the mirror glass is custom cut to fit. They are finished with a hand rubbed polyurethane blend.

Each mirror is unique, so please note there will be differences in color tone, bark inclusions, and wood. If you have a specific size or shape, please select "custom order" below.

They come ready to hang, are lightweight and can mount easily without studs. The wood can be cared for with Henry's Orange Oil and Beeswax rub which will bring the wood grain back to its original beauty. The glass cleaned with a simple 70% alcohol spray directly on a rag then used to clean the glass.

MIXED MEDIA SCULPTURE | Ethereal, Atmospheric, Lustrous Wall Sculpture

"The purpose of my art is to remind you of who you truly are through light, color, and presence."

As a mixed media artist, Nadia Fairlamb's artwork has been described as being alive, as if it were a living presence.

With over 30 years mastering sculptural ceramics, stained glass art, woodcrafting, painting and illustrating, she is now in her ethereal atmospheric transcendent era.

As a devotee in the yogic traditions and meditation, she leverages her years with studying transcendental dance light work with her guru. The current subject matter of her art infuses the essence of place, with specific spiritual states of being, creating a living installation of color and light.

Nadia received her BFA in sculptural ceramics and archaeology in Texas. Her art career began as an illustrator of archeological artifacts on archaeological digs, and then for scientific journal and cultural resource management publications.

Her creative focus shifted shifted from sculptural ceramics and glass to wood, now creating large scale mixed media wall sculpture installations.
