Katie Whyte

"The Road Less Travelled"

Item details

A hand drawn, freestyle wall painting, designed specifically for Wework. The design brief was to be bright and engaging. The mural aims to inspire and directly reference the people moving through this newly built space on a daily basis, without causing distraction, but rather to move them through whatever challenge they find themselves in. It uses bold shapes that direct attention in a diagonal motion up and down the stairs. This design intentionally mimics the attention span of the rush of energy one might feel when you conjure up a “big idea”; sometimes referee to as an “Aha!” moment when an epiphany is made. It is moments like this that spark new possibilities, new challenges and new adventures in life and work.

Meet the Creator

Painting as a way of connecting to how we move through the world and experience the space around us.

Katie Whyte is an Australian abstract artist based in Queensland, Australia. Studying how painting can influence our understanding of space, she completed a Bachelor (Honours) of Visual Arts at the University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba. Over the past 15 years, Whyte's painting practice has explored the parallel between the process of deriving meaning from vision and the abstraction of painted forms. This has been realised in studio work, painting exhibitions, street art festivals and mural commissions for commercial clients such as WeWork.
