The IC-12, a red floor lamp from Studio Josha's IC-Series by Dutch designer Josha Roymans, carries its carved head of light on four long legs - broad, upright, faintly anthropomorphic, and unapologetically maximalist. It is a sculptural piece first and a lamp second, holding a room like a quiet companion.
The IC-Series works one way only: a quick, unguarded sketch becomes the piece, directly. Josha cuts the form from foam by hand at life scale and builds up the skin with acrylic resin and fibre, keeping every loose, playful line of the drawing intact. Nothing rational is allowed in between - no computer models, no prototypes, and a colour decided only as the shape emerges.
Inside the shade, hand-gilded 24k gold leaf behaves less like a finish and more like a participant. By day it plays with ambient light; lit, it turns the light warm and deep, changing the feeling of the room around it.
Suited to eclectic residential and boutique commercial interiors; 169cm tall, freestanding, dimmer included. One of one - once placed, it will never exist again.
