My name is Amanda and I am the creator/owner of A Modern Take Fiber Art. I started my business selling my art online and at local markets on the weekends, while being a full-time mommy to an awesome (then) 6 year old boy with special needs. He’s my everything and he’s why I created A Modern Take Fiber Art.
I have since grown the business and in December 2020, opened a brick-and-mortar boutique located in the historic Over-The-Rhine district of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, called Boutique Cala. I combine my love for fashion and art, offering both clothing and macrame decor. I continue hand making and selling my artwork at the shop and online.
I am proud to say I built and installed everything inside my shop on my own. from the furnishings to the handcrafted lights (which I even hardwired the electric), I built it all. The boutique is a reflection of my artwork and a representation of my refusal to give up during times when others thought this was impossible to take on.
All of my macrame is hand crafted with high quality 100% cotton rope, with the exception of a few wall hangings that incorporate wool fibers. I source all my materials from other small businesses. Therefore, by supporting my small business you're supporting other small businesses as well.
