This glass mosaic was custom designed and custom built for the clients' kitchen. The mosaic wraps around the walls, backsplash and ceiling. Glass mosaic is very sturdy, perfect for spaces where paint and paper would not last. The clients wanted their kitchen to be the showcase for the whole home and they decided on a landscape design based on their ranch and cattle.

Custom architectural mosaics cost approximately $250 - $350 per square foot, including design and installation. Typically projects require 3-6 months lead time, depending on the design process and complexity of fabrication.

Custom mosaics elevate your space and last for generations.

I believe in surrounding myself with beautiful, hand-crafted things that are made to last.

Sarah Wandrey became a mosaic artist by way of a legal career. It was at the University of Chicago Law School that Sarah was inspired by the grand stone architecture and leaded glass windows of Rockefeller Chapel and the Harper Library. Sarah’s favorite classes were the evening courses she took at the Art Institute of Chicago, where she guiltily studied classical drawing and composition rather than trial law.

During the next decade as a lawyer, Sarah had three children and continued to study art “as a hobby,” but art took more and more of her time. Then, in 2014, she took a mosaic class on a whim. “It was just a way to get out of making dinner once a week, but it was so exciting. The very first mosaic I made was the best piece of art I had ever made. And so was the second. They both got in a show and sold right away. I knew I couldn’t keep practicing law.”

When her youngest child started school, Sarah pursued an apprenticeship with a mosaicist, during which she was trained in large scale outdoor mosaic mural and sculpture as well as fine art mosaic. Sarah now runs a full-time mosaic art business specializing in fine art mosaic and architectural commissions.
