A competition winning design for a bespoke commission organised by Buro4 celebrating their 30 years of business. I was given the Folkestone Academy School, designed by architect Norman Foster. As a starting place to base my design.
This multi panel piece, follows several marks through their journeys from left to right. The skeletal composition being a transition curve. Where the point of departure is changed, further on, higher than entrance. Whilst the journeys may have been challenging the process and goals are linked to effort and openness.
The image is created from several large original paintings that have been mounted together, like a collage using archive paste. The finish is with a high gloss art resin. The substrates is Fabriano cartridge (200gsm) and the edges of the 24mm birchwood panels are left raw, exposing the layers of wood and paintings.
The piece was purchased by the host company and is displayed in their London office.
