When Kidrobot, the world's premier designer and retailer of limited edition art toys and apparel, approached Harry Allen to create a unique space for their New York store, the project presented some distinct challenges. Founder, Paul Budnitz, wanted a space that was consistent with the existing Kidrobot retail stores yet allowed for the brand's expansion into the apparel market. The space's two-floor layout is unusual for the area, so an inventive inset lighting and display design was used to direct customer traffic to the store's second floor.

Harry Allen is the founder and president of Harry Allen Design.

After graduating with a Masters in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute in 1993, Harry established Harry Allen Design, and the same year produced a line of furniture called Living Systems, which showcased at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair. Since then, he has designed furniture, lighting, products, and interiors for a wide variety of international clients.

Harry's work is in the permanent collection of Museum of Modern Art (NYC), the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Denver Museum of Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. His awards include the Brooklyn Museum of Art's Modernism/Young Designer Award, and two Industrial Design Society of America IDEA Awards.

Harry does not underestimate his audience. His long-standing interests in art, new materials, and systematic design approach have lead to some of the most intelligent products and interiors in the world today.
