Historically reserved exclusively for imperial garments at the Jiangning Imperial Silk Manufacturing Department, Yunjin is the absolute pinnacle of ancient Chinese weaving. It is an art form so demanding and precise—intertwining complex gold, silver, and vibrant silk threads—that it remains impossible to fully mechanize even today.
This Manjushri Mandala is not printed or painted; it is painstakingly hand-woven by 8 master artisans. Representing the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, the intricate celestial palace architecture and cosmic geometry are woven with exacting precision. The central deities and complex layers of the mandala symbolize profound spiritual awakening, clarity, and the dispelling of ignorance. These masters share deep generational ties with the studio, having previously worked alongside Yuchen’s grandfather.
