Experience the architectural elegance of classical Chinese heritage. A timeless legacy, breathing in your living space.
The Concept
Born from Yuchen’s obsession with ancient Ming and Qing scrolls and Judy’s vision for timeless elegance, Dynasty Artisan bridges the gap between Eastern heritage and the modern Western home. Historically named after the "Taishi" (Grand Tutor and Prime Minister)—the highest official rank in imperial China—the Taishi Chair stands as the ultimate emblem of noble status and scholarly authority. Faithfully recreated from the legendary "Round-Headed Lingzhi Taishi Chair" documented on page 213 of Master Pu Anguo’s authoritative treatise, Selected Works of Ming and Qing Furniture Research (Vol. II), this Lingzhi Taishi Chair Trio represents a masterly evolution of classical aesthetics. In our Westborough, MA studio, we translate millennia of craftsmanship into a living sanctuary, ensuring every piece serves as a timeless bridge between the soul of the past and the dignity of your home.
The Craft and Material
Meticulously executed in Imperial Cinnabar Ironwood. Cinnabar soul in an iron-clad body. This rare timber possesses a legendary heartwood density that sinks instantly in water—a physical testament to its iron-like strength and eternal durability. Bathed in the sacred crimson glow of ancient imperial halls, its deep, radiant hues offer an unparalleled aesthetic of scholarly dignity and the enduring weight of history.
The Details: Crowned with a classic rounded crest, the frame features elaborate, full-body hand-carved relief "Lingzhi" (sacred auspicious herb) motifs—celebrated in Eastern culture as a symbol of longevity, good fortune, wishes fulfilled, and abundant blessings for generations. Each armchair is centered with a natural landscape-marbled stone circular inset on the backrest, paired with a meticulously polished solid wood seat and a matching two-tier carved tea table, offering a refined visual and tactile contrast.
The Structure: 100% handcrafted using traditional nail-free mortise and tenon joinery. True to historical imperial protocol, the backrest, armrests, and seat surface meet at precise 90-degree right angles, projecting an aura of upright majesty and seamless structural integrity that endures for generations.
The Philosophy & Etiquette: Designed to anchor modern executive suites and contemporary living spaces, this trio embodies the noble Eastern art of hospitality. Traditionally, a pair of Taishi chairs strictly distinguishes between host and guest: the left chair is reserved as the supreme seat of honor for distinguished guests. In daily life, the host sits only on the right chair, intentionally leaving the left seat vacant—a classical gesture known as "Xu Wei Yi Dai" (holding the seat of honor in anticipation of a worthy guest).

Please allow a 0–2 cm (0–0.79 in) tolerance due to manual measurement, and note that the luster of the wood may shift in tone depending on ambient lighting and digital display settings.
