Experience the architectural elegance of the Ming Dynasty. A timeless legacy, breathing in your living space.
The Concept
Faithfully reproduced 1:1 from classical museum masterpieces, this Ming-Style Rose Armchair (Meiguiyi) and Tea Table Trio is a masterly evolution of historical seating curated by designers Yuchen and Judy. Revered among collectors as the "aristocratic beauty" of classical Chinese furniture, "Meigui" does not refer to the flower, but translates to "resplendent, precious jade"—a tribute to the chair's jewel-like proportions and slender, graceful silhouette. In Ming Dynasty China, this was the signature seating found in the private boudoirs of noble young ladies from prestigious families, as well as the contemplative studios of scholar-officials (Shidafu). Its refined framing was engineered to inspire an upright, dignified posture, traditionally occupied on the front third of the seat as an emblem of aristocratic poise and cultivated upbringing. Bridging traditional Eastern literati philosophy with the sophisticated aesthetic of modern Western spaces, this trio brings an undeniable air of serene nobility and executive composure into the contemporary interior.
The Craft and Material
The set is meticulously executed in rare Imperial Midnight Black-Gold timber—renowned for its extraordinary, water-sinking density. Within its abyssal, midnight-black depths dance cool, metallic golden flecks, creating a dramatic visual tension between shadow and radiance. Driven by its formidable, water-sinking specific gravity, this ultra-dense hardwood locks in the eternal heirloom value of a true generational masterpiece, offering an unyielding, monumental presence beneath its slender silhouette.
The Ornamentation: Showcasing an airy, refined structure with softly poised lines, the upper frame features a gracefully contoured S-shaped backrest splat mounted above the horizontal rail to cradle the spine in ergonomic poise. Sculpted double-C kazi-hua ornamental struts bridge the open gallery framing, while three sets of cusped humen aprons remain intentionally unadorned—celebrating the pure, minimalist restraint of high Ming design and allowing the natural drama of the timber to take center stage.
The Joinery: Purely handmade using traditional nail-free mortise and tenon construction. Notably, the top rail, armrests, and central horizontal rail all employ canonical Ming-style Luoguo humpback stretchers. The four legs meet the top rail and armrests via authentic pipe-bowl joints (Wa Yandaiguo Sun), while the front and rear posts are crafted with continuous one-piece through-leg construction (Yimu Lianzuo) for uncompromising structural integrity. The seat is crafted using the traditional recessed-panel "sounding-drum" construction (Luotang Caigu), supported below by "stepping-higher" foot stretchers (Bubugao Ganjiaocheng)—an auspicious classical motif symbolizing continuous elevation in life and career.
The Finish: A natural, mirror-like deep patina highlights the abyssal midnight-black grain and leaping golden mineral threads, creating a commanding visual effect that shifts gracefully with the light.
100% Handcrafted. Traditional Mortise and Tenon Joinery.

Even with the most rigorous timber selection, natural color variations, organic timber knots, burls, mineral lines, and subtle 0–2 cm (0–0.8 in) hand-measurement tolerances are inherent hallmarks of authentic precious hardwood craftsmanship rather than quality defects. Please note that the deep midnight luster and golden shimmer of the Imperial Midnight Black-Gold wood may shift slightly in tone depending on ambient lighting conditions and digital display settings.
