The Folded Figure Compositions grew from my Anxious Sitters series, taking the same geometrically abstracted poses and expanding them both in detail and size. Each figure is draped in loose fitting clothing, with limbs folded and twisted into forms that call forth ideas of safety and protection, framed with wire mesh.
The final work hangs from a bracket on the wall, allowing for dynamic shadow play as the evolving light conditions throughout the day day interact with the wire cast dramatic shadows.
Each work is finished with a resilient powder coat, allowing the work to be hung outside and framed against the sky as easily as indoors against the wall.
