These horsehair raku vases are created using a unique firing process. The vases are built by coiling, pinching and impressing clay on a real stone.  The terra sigillata applied in a few coats to bone dry clay and then burnished creating very smooth surface. The vessel was fired again at raku kiln and pulled from the kiln while still glowing hot. The horsehair were placed on the surface, igniting and leaving black carbon designs. No two pieces of Raku will ever be alike.

Raku ceramics by their creative process and their very nature serve only for decorative purposes and are not intended to be used for food. Keep your piece out of direct sunlight will keep the metals in the glaze from oxidizing and colors strong and vibrant. The vase body is porous and not intended to hold water.

These little sculptural vases look beautiful as a group. The price includes 2 vases ( 2 black and white) that are recently in inventory. If you would like to purchase more vases or less , please make an inquiry.

Transforming nature's inspirations into organic ceramic forms

Originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, I have always felt a deep connection to art. My early career began as Marketing Director at the Museum of the History of St. Petersburg (Peter & Paul Fortress). I collaborated with renowned Russian artists and held senior marketing roles.

Extensive travel across the globe enriched my understanding of diverse cultures and artistic traditions. It deepened my appreciation for the beauty found in everyday life.

For years, I dreamed of working with clay. That dream came true when I enrolled in my first ceramics course at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. I was instantly captivated. Clay quickly became a vital part of my life. It inspired me to transition from a successful corporate career to fully embrace this creative path. I completed intensive training in ceramic disciplines, including all advanced courses offered at the university’s fine arts program.

After relocating to San Diego, I became a member of Clay Artists of San Diego, Oceanside Museum of Art and Art Alliance, Escondido Art Partnership, and Fallbrook Art Center. My work has been featured in fine art catalogues like APERO and online galleries like Saatchi Art. In addition, I exhibited my work in numerous solo and group shows, and honored with multiple awards.
