Herbarium is a series of wall lights inspired by the artist’s mother’s forty-year-old herbarium and the profound significance of floristry within his family history. The showcased plants are hand-gathered from the Vistula riverbanks and meticulously preserved by Mateusz and his mother using a self-developed artisan technique. Each specimen serves as a poetic vessel for a particular moment in time, preserving both a season and a memory shared with family.
Each piece features a distinct, hand-harvested botanical specimen. Because nature never repeats itself, every lamp in the series is a singular, one-of-a-kind work of art. The individual characteristics of each hand-harvested plant dictate the final character of the piece, ensuring that no two collectors own the same moment in time.
Every single object in the series is touch-sensitive – a gentle tap at the bottom of the lamp’s frame activates a warm, ambient glow. This backlighting reveals the extraordinary, intricate details of the plant, turning the specimen into a visual recording of a specific moment from the past.
Herbarium is a cordless lamp powered by an integrated Li-Ion battery, rechargeable via a discreet USB-C port located at the base. A dedicated charger is included with every purchase. If you need a custom, corded piece, please contact us.
