"Held Together" explores themes of femininity, identity, and emotional labor through the image of a woman entangled in yarn and handmade materials. What initially appears domestic and familiar gradually becomes more psychological, with the fibers acting as both physical material and metaphor.
I was drawn to the tension between softness and constraint — the idea that the things we create, care for, and hold together can also overwhelm us. The yarn functions as line, structure, and interruption, partially obscuring the figure while connecting her to the surrounding space.
