"Limen" – A Latin word meaning "Threshold," symbolizing the boundary between the seen and unseen, nature and the subconscious, reality and illusion.

Philosophy & Concept Description: "Limen" explores the delicate line between perception and reality, where nature, memory, and human presence blend into a dreamlike continuum. The layered composition creates the feeling of looking through a veil, hinting at hidden stories and subconscious worlds.

The vertical elements evoke both tree trunks and barriers, blurring enclosure with freedom. Ethereal figures shift within light, suggesting themes of transience and interconnectedness. The outer frame emphasizes perception, reminding the viewer that what we see is often only a fragment of a deeper reality.

"Limen" invites the viewer to step beyond the threshold and question what lies beyond.

Figurative Abstraction

(b. 1995, Georgia) is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist known for his bold, figurative abstraction and textured, expressive compositions. With a background in architecture, Mikava seamlessly merges structural precision with raw artistic spontaneity, creating dynamic, layered surfaces that push the boundaries of modern and contemporary art.

His paintings have been exhibited at major international art fairs, including the Affordable Art Fair and Battersea Art Fair in London. A defining milestone in his career was becoming the youngest artist featured at Hessink Live Auction (Netherlands), where his works were sold alongside pieces by Andy Warhol and Banksy.

Mikava’s art explores existential, socio-political, and psychological themes through an innovative combination of oil, acrylic, pastel, textiles, and mixed media. His unique approach to texture and form has drawn comparisons to leading contemporary painters, making his work highly collectible among art investors, curators, and private collectors.

Notably, his paintings are part of prestigious private collections, including the Lester Marks Collection. With a rapidly growing international presence, Mikava’s work is gaining recognition in the global contemporary art market, attracting interest from major galleries and collectors worldwide.
