Inspired by the Greek legend, the Gaia credenza's all-wood body rests on the earth, from which it draws its strength. The solid, monolithic structure rises from the ground while the lines of the front face play with the horizontality of the carcase.

The blackened steel accents and the credenza's simple, rectangular form are softened by the asymmetrical configuration and introduction of curved handle details silhouetted against the back-plates.

All Lumifer products are designed by Javier Robles and made by local NY artisans.

Lumifer is an NYC based lighting, furniture, and accessories company focused on the luxury high-end residential and hospitality sectors. Designed with a clean modernist and industrial aesthetic references, and handmade in Brooklyn and upstate New York, each piece is crafted from unique and durable materials that bestow a timeless quality.

At Lumifer, every product is made to order and can be customized to reflect the individual requirements and direction of our clients. Inspired to create the unique and extraordinary in every design, architect-designer Javier Robles' passion for designing lighting and furniture and his multi-cultural background led him to establish Lumifer in 2014.

A native of Peru, Javier began designing and prototyping furniture and lighting pieces while attending architecture school at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. His first lighting project was named Lumifer (luminaria+ferro) after designing a desk lamp composed of construction re-bars.

Soon after completing his Masters at Columbia University in New York City, he taught at New York’s New School – Parsons School of Design in their Product Design and Interior Design Department. During these years he became more interested in designing custom pieces in conjunction with his architectural commissions, achieving a consistent design language across his work.

The creation of Lumifer came as a response to Javier's constant search for products that can be seamlessly integrated with his architectural projects. His ability to design and craft objects in different scales, helps define a line of products that are simple in form yet sophisticated in finishes and detailing.

With 20 years of international experience, Javier Robles draws on his deep architectural knowledge and cultural experience to share his passion for architecture, design and art with his clients. He previously founded Utopus studio in London (2004) and in New York (2006) focused on residential, commercial and cultural projects throughout the United States, Europe, North Africa and Latin America.
