Row of palmettos lining the Old Pitts Street bridge in Mount Pleasant’s Old Village, just outside of Charleston, SC. Blues, greens and peaches making a pleasant palette. The title is a reference to Psalm 92:12: “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree…”

contemporary impressionist oil painter

Artist Julia Chandler Lawing synchronizes color and brushstroke to capture the essence of a moment and evoke emotion. Her oil paintings have been called “extravagantly beautiful, spiritual and inspiring.”

Born in Atlanta, Julia moved to St. Simons Island, Georgia, at age 12. The experience of growing up in the Golden Isles instilled a deep appreciation for nature, light, and the wetland landscape.

Julia’s pieces are included in private and corporate collections nationally including Towne Bank and Georgia State university's College of Law. Her paintings have been reproduced and installed as billboards, window clings and sheet metal in the greater Charlotte area.

Julia and her family live just north of Charlotte. When not traveling, Julia paints in her studio at ClearWater Arts Center.
