SOLD This piece was commissioned by a client who owns several of my works. They brought me two bottles of wine from Italy; each from the region where their families are from. I did a photo shoot and gave them several composition options. I took photos of the wood cabinetry of the bar so that I could compliment the color of the wood. After choosing their favorite composition, I sent them photos as the painting progressed. As a finishing touch, they decided to add their engraved family names to the base of each wine glass which made it even more special.

The beauty of everyday objects captured in a contemporary realistic style

I declared that I would be an artist when I was only 10 years old and have been creating ever since. My mother is an artist and art teacher so you might say, it was in my blood.
I try to slow life down and capture ordinary but beautiful moments that we may rush past in our busy lives. Sometimes I think I’m trying to stop the passage of time by depicting the perfect bloom or the mesmerizing shadow that will soon be gone. Although some of my work is composed like a traditional still life, many are enlarged beyond a normal scale. I shoot my own reference photos, and with camera in hand, I like to zoom in and explore the subtle textures and curves of an object until I start to lose the object itself. I use this same dramatic canvas filling perspective in my paintings. I look for areas where a shadow forms an interesting shape, the light glows through the flower petal, or the distorted reflection appears on the metal bowl.
