Seamlessly bridging centuries of imperial elegance with contemporary interior design, this Museum Edition Qing Dynasty Qianlong Style Famille Jaune Incised "Magpies on Plum Branches" Prunus Vase (Meiping) is a masterclass in traditional Chinese porcelain artistry. Designed to serve as a profound visual anchor, its classic high-shouldered silhouette and radiant imperial yellow tones bring a sophisticated Oriental aesthetic that effortlessly elevates both modern Western living spaces and refined Eastern studies.
The Art of Reproduction & Lineage
This piece is born from a profound dedication to preserving heritage. Rooted in a family lineage descending directly from the official imperial kilns (Guan Yao) of the Song Dynasty, our co-designers Yuchen and Judy, alongside the master artisans, meticulously reproduce museum-level masterpieces. This specific vase is a faithful homage to esteemed imperial artifacts, capturing the supreme regal aesthetics of the classical era.
The Imperial "Bahua" (Sgraffito Famille Rose) Craftsmanship
Historically celebrated in the archives of the Imperial Household Department as "Jin Shang Tian Hua" (Adding Flowers to Brocade), the art of Famille Rose Sgraffito (Zhadao) represents the zenith of intricate ceramic mastery. Artisans first apply a rich, uniform layer of imperial yellow glaze onto the refined white porcelain body to create a luminous "brocade ground." Using a fine, needle-like tool, master craftsmen then meticulously hand-incise thousands of delicate phoenix-tail scrollwork patterns into the glaze before layering soft, shaded Famille Rose enamels on top—achieving extraordinary tactile depth, subtle light play, and three-dimensional elegance.
The Motif — "Joy on the Brow" (Magpies, Plum Blossoms & Bamboo)
The graceful body of the vase is a poetic canvas depicting two lively magpies perched amidst blossoming winter plum branches and vibrant green bamboo:
- Magpies (Xi Que): A timeless Oriental emblem of auspiciousness, heralding imminent joy, harmony, and heartfelt blessings.
- Plum Blossoms (Mei Hua): Blooming resiliently against the winter chill to symbolize noble perseverance and the arrival of spring; phonetically paired with the magpie, they form the classic blessing "Xi Shang Mei Shao" (Joy Appearing on the Brow).
- Bamboo (Zhu): Serving as the finishing touch, evergreen bamboo represents vitality, humility, and the blessing of peace and safety ("Zhu Bao Ping An"), enriching the vessel with scholarly refinement.
