This original hand-carved sculpture is rendered in white alabaster, a stone prized for centuries for its soft translucency and warm, luminous quality. At 12 x 8 x 8 inches, the piece presents a low, horizontal mass of swelling spherical forms that press and nestle against one another — evoking simultaneously a cumulus cloud, a cluster of river stones, a reclining figure, or a colony of living cells.
