Dark Night of the Soul is, in essence, an abstract landscape in the middle of night. Wondering through thick trees, icy terrain— everything is dark, cold and scary. You’re alone and heavy in heart. You’re not sure if you’ll ever find your way or if the sun will ever rise to light your path or warm your face once again. That’s what its like to have a dark night of the soul. Only later do you realize there were stars shining. When your trudging through it, its hard to see any beauty just like you may not notice the sliver of light lining a storm cloud. I’m rarely thankful when Im in the thick of it. But I always try to find the upside of the dark side after I’ve processed my pain. When my best friend, Cooper died, I was gutted. Only later, much later, did I appreciate the love we shared and the time I had with him. He was the stars.

THIS PAINTING IS PART OF THE THE SILVER LININGS COLLECTIONS
Sometimes silver linings are all we have to hold on to. What is a silver lining? Let me give you a visual. Even some of the darkest, meanest storm clouds hold a hint of light. If you really look close, you’ll see it. Sometimes its just a sliver of light on the very bottom of a dark cloud hardly even there. But there nonetheless. I think these hints of light serve as a reminder that there’s always something to be grateful for, regardless of its size, depth or width. They are something to look forward to, something to hold on too. Even through the darkest of times. Even when I felt like the entire Universe had abandoned me; when I felt dreadfully hopeless. Knowing this fact, this truth that absolutely nothing can last forever has comforted me when nothing else did. I’ve taken my dark night of the soul and transmuted it into something beautiful, calming and refreshing. Let these Silver Lining Paintings and Art Prints fill you with comfort, solace and renewing energy.

Abstract Expressionist Painter

Kimberly May is an abstract expressionist painter & poet living in Kersley British Columbia with her 2 children. Her studio is a quaint painting space based in a rural historic 1930's hand hewn log home called the Sleeping Hallow.

Painting is a way for her to capture the essence of emotions that often go unspoken, transforming them into a visual symphony for others to experience and enjoy. Her highest goal is to offer collectors space for introspection and peace.
