The Hirado is a marble and oak coffee table, a compact, self-contained table built around a single block of marble. Stone and timber are set in deliberate balance here, the marble carrying the surface and the oak grounding it beneath.
Emperador Dark is a Spanish marble from the region of Murcia, a deep, even brown threaded with fine veins of white and cream calcite, the warmest and most grounded of the marbles Lebanto works with. The oak answers in kind: solid European oak smoked to a near-black brown, its grain still legible beneath the finish, so the marble and oak read as two tones of a single warmth. Each top is cut from its own block, so no two of these marble and oak coffee tables share the same figure.
Underneath, a solid oak base carries the weight. Two boards are set perpendicular and slotted one through the other into an interlocking cross-leg structure, the join shown rather than hidden, so the craft of the piece and the support of it are one and the same.
As a marble and oak coffee table it holds a room quietly, as at ease in a living room as anywhere. The Hirado is an Italian coffee table made to order in Cantù, in Lombardy's long-established furniture district, drawn from a palette of full-slab stone, solid timber, and premium Italian glass.
